Supporting, not replacing, the expertise of hairdressers: La Biosthétique is the first premium hair care brand to offer AI-powered advice.

La Biosthétique Professional is teaming up with IQONIC.AI to break new ground and provide long-term support to its salon partners in a changing market. Thus, they have introduced an AI-powered hair and scalp analysis in La Biosthétique salons across Germany, making La Biosthétique the first premium hair care brand to use an AI-powered hair and scalp analysis—without additional hardware—in its salons.
The resulting hair and scalp profile serves as a starting point for the personal consultation. The goal is not to replace the personal consultation, but to complement it effectively and ensure the salons’ high quality standards in the long term. The technology offers customers an accessible way to clearly understand their individual needs.

More time for in-salon consultations
The digital analysis complements the personal consultation, creates a well-founded basis for conversation, and helps convey individual care needs in an understandable way. Both salons and their customers benefit from a consultation that is more personal and easier to follow – even amid the challenges of a talent shortage, rising staff turnover, and increasing time pressures.
"We have always seen ourselves as partners to our salons. That's why we develop solutions together with them that ease everyday work, safeguard consultation quality, and strengthen customer loyalty. With AI-powered consulting, we're creating a tool that supports our hairdresser partners without replacing their personal expertise," says Dr. Christian Ader, member of the Executive Board and COO of La Biosthétique.
How the system works
Before treatment, the guest scans a QR code with their smartphone and takes a photo of their hair. This generates an individual hair and scalp profile that analyzes factors such as moisture levels, hair structure, hair volume, or scalp condition. Based on this, the hairdresser gets valuable insights for the consultation that follows and can discuss individual care and treatment recommendations together with the guest.

A Common Ground for the Consultation
"The AI creates a shared starting point for the consultation and helps clients better understand their hair's and scalp's individual needs. It's not meant to replace the hairdresser's experience or expertise – instead, it makes the consultation more transparent, more personal, and easier for both sides," says Martin Pentenrieder, founder of IQONIC.AI.
Juliane Sach, participating salon owner, confirms: "One person on the team has the expertise, another doesn't quite know how to start a consultation. I believe that AI can act as a mediator in that gap."
For La Biosthétique, developing the tool is another step toward shaping the future of professional hairdressing services together with its salon partners. Especially at a time of rising staff turnover and less time available for in-depth consultations, the technology helps ensure high consulting standards are maintained in the long run. At the same time, it strengthens customer loyalty to the salon and opens up additional potential in the professional care business – as a result of better consultations and a deeper understanding of individual needs.
Tradition meets Innovation
This step is a natural continuation of La Biosthétique's history. Since its founding in 1948, the family-owned company has pursued a holistic approach to hair, scalp, and skin health. Today, more than 8,000 salon partners in 37 countries work with La Biosthétique worldwide. The new AI-powered hair and scalp analysis reflects this understanding of innovation: modern technology in the service of personal consultation and a strong partnership with the hairdressing trade.
