  • IQONIC.AI and easyApotheke are partnering to bring AI powered skin analysis to local pharmacies.

  • The service will initially launch as a pilot project at selected locations among the nearly 150 easyApotheke pharmacies in Germany.

  • Fully integrated into the easyApp and the pharmacy websites, customers can perform the analysis using their own smartphones—both directly at the easyApotheke and from the comfort of their own homes.

  • The goal: to enhance pharmaceutical counseling and highlight beauty and skincare product lines—without adding extra work for the pharmacy team.

Skin analysis and care product recommendations by easyApotheke and IQONIC.AI.

IQONIC.AI and easyApotheke are joining forces: Starting now, we are introducing the AI skin analysis to select pharmacies in the easyApotheke network. This allows us to combine innovative technology with pharmaceutical expertise and create a digital skin consultation service in pharmacies that delights customers, appeals to new target groups, and does not place an additional burden on the pharmacy team.

Lena Emde, Head of Digital Marketing at easyApotheke, explains: “At easyApotheke, we focus on an exceptionally strong beauty and over-the-counter product range and are consistently expanding this area. We view IQONIC.AI’s AI skin analysis as a complementary tool that playfully introduces customers to the topic of skin health, sparks curiosity, and facilitates the transition to personalized consultation.”

Medical Profession Versus Economic Reality: Pharmacy Operations Today

“Pharmacists are responsible for ensuring that the public has a proper supply of medicines. In doing so, they contribute to the health of both individuals and the population as a whole.” (§ 1 Bundesapothekerordnung)

When deciding to study pharmacy, people often have one main goal: to become a medication specialist who understands the composition and mechanisms of drugs and uses that knowledge to assist people with their health concerns. Especially in times when appointments with (specialist) doctors are becoming increasingly scarce, the pharmacy is the first point of contact for many patients.

However, the reality of day-to-day professional life often looks quite different: Independent pharmacists are often preoccupied primarily with running their pharmacies as profitable businesses. And the demands are constantly growing: Digitalization, regulatory changes, and dynamic market conditions pose major challenges for pharmacies. It is hardly possible anymore to remain competitive in the long term on one’s own—while at the same time truly leveraging the professional expertise in healthcare that one originally set out to provide.

easyApotheke: A Strong Partner for Independent Pharmacies

easyApotheke offers a broad range of skincare products.

easyApotheke is a well-established pharmacy network with nearly 150 locations in Germany. It enables its partners to devote more time to pharmaceutical counseling, utilizes modern processes, and emphasizes strong collaboration within the network. The partners are and remain independent business owners—easyApotheke supports them with marketing, online presence, purchasing, category management, recruiting, controlling, partner management, insurance coverage, and construction. It doesn’t matter whether a pharmacy is being newly established or an existing one is being restructured. This gives pharmacists more time to focus on their professional expertise—and creates room for new, customer-oriented services.

AI Skin Analysis at the Pharmacy

We fill this space with our joint service. The AI skin analysis by IQONIC.AI is a digital service that analyzes an individual’s skin condition and uses that information to generate personalized product recommendations from the pharmacy’s product range—scientifically sound, data-driven, and completed in just a few minutes.

Because even though customers primarily visit the pharmacy for health-related concerns, the range of services and products is actually much broader. Clinical and prestige beauty brands, in particular, use the pharmacy as one of their most important sales channels. But although demand for scientifically effective products is rising, these products have yet to reach the mainstream.

This makes it all the more important for pharmacies to position themselves as innovative providers, reach new target groups, and draw their customers’ attention to their product ranges—without adding extra work for the pharmacy team. This is exactly what our digital skin consultation delivers: it enables personalized advice and highlights beauty and skincare product ranges. The result: higher sales, greater customer satisfaction, and stronger customer loyalty.

Why easyApotheke Is the Ideal Partner for IQONIC's Skin Analysis

easyApotheke offers a broad range of skincare products.

We see enormous potential in working with easyApotheke: Their customers are already accustomed to modern concepts and a wider range of products—so the barrier to trying out a new digital service is comparatively low. “The partnership combines the best of both worlds: innovative digital technology and personalized pharmaceutical advice. It is precisely this combination that makes the service particularly relevant and future-proof for our customers,” emphasizes Lena Emde. At the same time, easyApotheke serves as a central point of contact for individual pharmacists: a partner that introduces them to skin analysis at easyApotheke, explains the process, and provides guidance.

More than Just a New Service: Tangible Benefits for Pharmacies and Customers

Pharmacies are increasingly evolving from mere dispensaries of medication into comprehensive partners for health and well-being. With AI-powered skin analysis, we combine what has always been the strength of pharmacies—pharmaceutical expertise and personal trust—with the possibilities of modern technology. This collaboration proves that personal consultation and data-driven recommendations are no contradiction, but rather complement each other.
